I Did Fafinettex3 Smokey Browns Look

I did a look that Aubrey, Fafinettex3, did recently. I think she called it smokey browns, or something like that. I'm kinda meh about this look. I think my skin tone maybe a bit light to pull this off well.

I thought it would be fun to try and easy as I have all the shadows that she used. Most of the time when I do looks that she has done I get tons of compliments, but not today.....swing and a miss.

I think what I didn't like was how orange the texture shadow came off on me. It might have worked better if I used soft brown instead. I might try that at some point.

Is it just me or does anyone else go to sleep at night thinking up looks and pretty combos?

On a different topic...I was lazy and didn't put the top coat on my nails last night and paid for it. Got a couple of small chips. Gonna take it off and do something different. Plus my nails are starting to feel like talons...they're starting to curl a bit. EEWWW!!!

I have a Sephora color I think I'm going to try. It's very plain, I thinks it's latte something... I let you know.

Nails of the Week

Hi everyone!

Long time, no post.

I've decided to make an effort at trying to post at least once a week, more if possible.

This post is about my nail polish for the week. I generally paint my nails Sunday night, which usually lasts thru the week. Most of the time I just use one color, but tonight I did two. I think this is a beautiful combination, so give it a try.

The base coat I use is by OPI, its the base for acrylic nails. I know I don't have acrylics, but it works really well on natural nails. It is the best base I have ever used, you should try it!

The first color I put down was Mother Road Rose by OPI. It's a lovely medium rose shade without sparkle or shimmer.

On top of that I put Don't Toy With Me by OPI. It is a burgundy with fine red glitters in it. It was a special edition from last season, sorry.

The top coat that I use is by China Glaze. It dries super fast and has a high shine. I've found that if I sandwich my color between the OPI base coat and this top coat that no matter how cheap the polish, it will look great and last all week.

Right now OPI has about 3 glittery polishes for this Holiday season that would be pretty on top of other colors. I also believe that China Glaze has some glitter polishes as part of their regular line. (Ruby Slippers)

I used to be disappointed with glitter polishes because I was using them alone, without a solid color beneath, but now I'm very happy with them. They add that little something extra to your nails for the holidays....or just everyday!!

Project 10 Pan Update

Still doing P10P and I'm happy to report that I've used up 2 more products. However, I have purchased more than I used. Oh well, I'll keep trying.

Used up a tube of toothpaste, I know that's stretching it, but it really is beauty related. I also used up a tube of Hemp Hand Cream from The Body Shop, which is the best ever!

Bare Minerals Matte - Initial Review

I picked up the new Bare Minerals Matte foundation at Ulta over the weekend in the hopes that it would be as the name implies, matte. I found that its not really matte as it is just not as dewy as the original foundation.

I'm comparing my idea of matte mineral makeup to Everyday Minerals Intensive or perhaps L'Oreal's mineral foundation, for point of reference.

I also hoped that it would not be as itchy as the original tends to be on me. (I like the coverage and it doesn't break me out, so I put up with the occasional itchiness.) I'm sorry to report, that the matte formula is still itchy, for me anyway.

It claims that its supposed to absorb excess oil and eliminate shine without drying, not so for me. I am not oily skinned, but noted a shiny face by lunch time. Blotting was very necessary. Perhaps if I used a primer underneath it might have helped with that issue, I'll give it a try and report back.

There is an ingredient in it that is from the RareMinerals line that is supposed to help with smoothing skin and cell turnover, but I honestly can't report on that yet. I'll keep you posted.

Another downside I noted was the lack of colors. It maybe that the product is still too new and they haven't released tons of shades yet, but for ebony skinned women you may find it difficult to find your shade in the new formula. I believe the darkest shade my store had was Tan, I'm sure a free standing Bare Escentuals will have the full range.

There is one thing that I really like about it. I'm really loving the new packaging! There is a new sifter, which can be dialed to opened or closed. A definite plus in managing the mess or for travel.

Overall impression, meh. I didn't really note much of a difference between the matte and the original. The oil absorbing claims are overrated, but may need further testing on my part. Skin improvement is unknown, and will probably remain unknown as I don't wear mineral foundation everyday.

I'm going to keep using it and see if it will win me over.

Loving L'oreal Bare Naturale Mascara

This is just a random post about a mascara that I'm loving lately, the L'Oreal Bare Naturale Mascara. I've had this for a while, but wasn't too impressed with it initially. I went back and tried it again this past week and I'm really loving it!

It gives a nice amount of length and average volume to my lashes. I have the regular formula and it's holding the curl decently as well. I wore it to work today and it still looked great at the end of a 12 hour day. I haven't noticed any flaking or smearing under my eyes either. I'm obsessive about raccoon eyes! I cannot stand a mascara that smears, and so far this hasn't done that!

Another thing that I like is that it is paraben and fiber free, plus it is infused with some healthy stuff. I think it has minerals and jojoba oil in it. It's also easy to remove, which is a must in my book. I'm able to take it off with a makeup remover wipe without any trouble or tugging.

I will definitely repurchase when this tube runs out! Of course it will be on sale, I try not to pay full price for anything!!

Latisse Review

Hello BB Fans! Today I'm going to review Latisse, the eye lash growth product by Allergan.

Let me start with some basic information about the product. Latisse is actually a prescription eye drop that was originally formulated to treat glaucoma (high eye pressure), accelerated eye lash growth was just a happy side effect. The makers of the drops have renamed it Latisse and promoted it as beauty product for a much higher price, as the glaucoma drops are not considered a high tier drug anymore. Is this dirty? Kind of, but it if you were in business, you'd say it was genius.

I purchased mine for $120 dollars from the Medical Spa that I go to regularly. It does require a prescription, so a physcian is required. If you can find an eye doctor willing to prescribe it for you as the glaucoma medicine, good for you! You can buy it cheaper. However, I doubt many will do it. Liability and false diagnosis' you see.

Now for the review!

If you are an impatient person, this may not be the product for you. Results do take time. For the first month I noticed thicker lashes, more new growth. Instead of 1 or 2 rows of lashes I noticed 3 or 4 and much closer together. Months 2-3 no real changes. By month 4, wow! That was when I really noticed the length starting to increase! So now I have thick and long lashes. Another bonus, the longest lashes on the outer corner of the eye have started to curl on their own!!

Bonus #2 I use the left over product on the brush and put it on my eyebrows. I had a bald spot on my left brow from a waxing burn, which was very noticeable. It is almost gone now. I have brushed the product over the entire brow and have notice that they have become much fuller.

I do not use the applicator brushes included with the product. They are crap! I use an eyeliner brush (not the flat square shaped kind) and use one drop per eye. Then I brush it over my brows and clean afterwards. It is important to do your brows last so as not to introduce any dust or dirt to the lashes.

Another tip I have learned from experience, use 1 drop per eye. Yes, there is enough product to do both eyes with 1 drop, but I noticed that the 2nd eye did not have the same results. I little bit shorter. Since I have been doing 1 drop per eye, they are now even. I'm sure if you wanted to save some money you could still do 1 drop for both and alternate which eye you start with to keep things even.

Yes, I understand that it is pricey and the economy is bad, but know this! One bottle has lasted me 4 months and there is still plenty of product left in the bottle!

I hope this has helped anyone who is considering this product. I highly recommend it! Once I'm done with this I might try Lilash or Lash Fusion, but I still have a lot of Latisse left to use.
